Lemon balm

Lemon balm or sweet balm is a perennial shrub.

It is a self-sown plant in the Mediterranean countries, while in Greece is self-sown mainly in Macedonia, Thrace and on the Aegean Islands.

The leaves of lemon balm are used in cooking, in confectioneries and in making drinks and beverages. Lemon balm can be used as a pleasant beverage any time of a day, hot or cold. It has antioxidant properties. Lemon balm is used as antispasmodic, restorative, mild sedative as well.
